August Events Update

Notes From the Editor:
Summertime is in full swing here at the Animal Refuge Center! 2016 has felt like a signature year for the pet overpopulation problem, as various groups throughout Hardin County take to social media: Breeders are hawking and selling pets in full force, pet forums are full of Free To Good Home pets, and animal welfare groups are forced to hustle harder now than ever to promote spaying and neutering even as the dogs, cats, puppies and kittens keep right on rolling into kill and no-kill shelters all over America. It is a never-ending cycle, and we all have to do our part.

Our work in Hardin County continues with our new Cookie’s Legacy Trap-Neuter-Release Program.

Dog Wash At Freeman Lake Park –August 20 HAS BEEN CANCELLED DUE TO CONCERT SCHEDULING

Regrets to inform that this year’s Dog Wash has been cancelled! A number of events on that date were cancelled due to a big concert scheduled for Saturday evening. Our Autumn Dog Wash has been rescheduled for August 12, 2017.

The Animal Refuge Center Presents: Emily West

Public · Concert · Hosted by The Historic State Theater Complex, Friday, September 23 at 8 PM
The Historic State Theater Complex 209 W Dixie Ave, Elizabethtown, Kentucky 42701
With her engaging stage presence and alto vocals, singer/songwriter Emily West’s dream is to tell stories through song. After moving to Nashville at 18, she enjoyed some success in the music industry. In looking for a do-over and a clean slate she packed a bag for New York City. In 2014, she made the decision to audition for the NBC talent show America’s Got Talent where she performed covers of hit songs ranging from Sia’s “Chandelier” to the Moody Blues’ “Nights in White Satin” before finishing as runner-up. The exposure led to a record deal with Sony Masterworks, which released her official full-length debut album, All for You, in August 2015.

All proceeds benefit the Animal Refuge Center’s mission in finding forever homes for homeless pets.
