NOW Is The Time To Spay and Neuter!

NOW is the time to spay/neuter your cats! Help us make kitten season a non-event – – or at least less of an event. If you turned in kittens to the shelter in the last year and kept the mother cat, you are eligible to have the mother cat spayed at NO charge. If this is you, please call 502-437-4227 and leave your name and number so we can get you on the shelter surgery schedule. If you need your cats (or dogs!) spayed or neutered and don’t think you can afford the entire thing, please apply for a Spay/Neuter Assistance Program certificate from FOHCAS! Go to www.FOHCAS.org for an application! We have partnered with Helmwood Veterinary Clinic, Heartland Veterinary Clinic and Etown Animal Hospital to help Hardin County residents…

Tyler The Pit Bull’s Forever Home

Tyler the Pit Bull mix went to his Forever Home yesterday, with a disabled vet. Tyler was very polite in his new home, looking up to his new owner for leadership, wanting to be told how to behave and what to do. That doggy grin reminds me of another famous pit bull that I bet a bunch of you are too young to remember. Last year, Michigan Humane Society did a number of articles celebrating the Pit Bull, the very first of which was part of the famous Buster Brown and Tighe duo from more than 100 years ago. Tighe first appeared in print in 1902! Check out the article below, and follow the rest of their Celebrating the Pit Bull series. https://michiganhumane.wordpress.com/…/celebrating-the-pit…/ The Animal Refuge Center has many wonderful…
