Rita came to ARC along with her 6 feral kittens back in the summer of 2013. At the time, her kids were about 6 months old and with a lot of patience we were able to interact and play with 5 of them. All but her daughter Charity, who never came around for us. We were able to find her daughter Paula and her son Chase forever homes, but the rest of her liter has pretty much reverted back to shy/feral.
Rita is the most feral cat that we have at the shelter and you can’t even so much as sneak a pet with her. While we will never know the full story of her life before she came to ARC, we do know she was a mother several times over, but we can give her shelter and food and hopefully make her life as stress free as possible.
Recently Rita had to be temporarily caged while we were renovating our basement. This caused a little stress for her, but she is finding the improved basement to her liking. This is the only home Rita will ever know and we love our feral kitty very much!
The success of the Animal Refuge Center’s Sponsor A Pet Program has stood the test of time, and is more important to our work now than ever before. Maybe you don’t have room to adopt another pet at this time. Some of these pets may never, ever find their Forever Home, and the Animal Refuge Center will be the only home they ever have. A lot of these pets have waited awhile, and pets who were previously thought unadoptable have found their home with a stroke of luck. With your Sponsorship, you can help keep a homeless pet safe, warm, fed and loved until they do.
