Welcome to the Animal Refuge Center!

Services Provided By The Animal Refuge Center To Benefit Hardin & Surrounding Counties

1. Operates as a no-kill shelter in Vine Grove, Kentucky
2. Adoption center to find loving and permanent homes for sheltered pets. Our adoption fees are $50.00 for cats, $65.00 for dogs. This is a reasonable fee for a pet who comes spayed or neutered, tested and up to date with all vaccines.
3. Pet placement referral service/Lost and Found: If unable to accept surrendered pets, our service tries to match animals with prospectivenew pet owner via our Bulletin Board at (270) 877-6064. Also feel free to call Free Classifieds at the NewsEnterprise at 769-1200, Ext. 220. Our Bulletin Board is updated frequently to reunite lost pets with their owners. We have had many happy reunions.
4. Provide a final resting place in our St.Francis Pet Cemetary. (Tour coming soon.)
5. Humane education programs: The Animal Refuge Center has appeared for talks with 4-H groups, Girl Scouts/Boy Scouts. Field Trips are designed to educate our youngsters and show the everyday workings of an animal shelter.
6. Human Interest Programs: Pet Therapy for Seniors, Community Alternatives of KY, Court Designated Workers Program.

7. Provides a spay/neuter program for all unaltered animals adopted from the shelter. Also offerslow-cost spay & neuter program for the public through Dixie Animal Hospital.

8. Provides a quarterly newsletter and educational literature to keep supporters updated on the happenings at the shelter as well as important animal issues and helpful hints.

9. Provides permanent, loving home for unadoptable livestock.

10. Provides a tornado safety shelter and emergency pet rescue in time of emergency evacuation.

11. Provide volunteer opportunities for citizens who want to make a difference in their Community: Animal Caretaker, Pet Therapy Volunteer,speaking in schools, office Admin Assistant, Newsletter, Public Relations.Just email for info on how to help.


Every Day is Spay Day At The Animal Refuge Center

TheAnimal Refuge Center in Vine Grove currently has 160 cats and 12 adoptable dogs available for adoption; 15 total dogs available for sponsorship. For $10 per month, a person can sponsor either a dog or cat in the Sponsor Program, which helps the shelter to meet it's monthly operating expenses. Sponsor families will receive a sponsor packet with monthly sponsor tickets, a photo of their sponsor pet(s), and a pawprint-signed Christmas card from their sponsor pet.

Adopting an ARC animal involves several steps (but we have NO waiting list):

  • You must be at least 18 years old or accompanied by an adult.
  • You must fill out a questionaire and an application, plus an adoptioncontract.
  • All animals have current shots and are spayed or neutered.
  • If the animal is younger than six months, a free spay/neuter certificate redeemable at Dixie Animal Hospital in Valley Station, KY (personal vets sometimes accept them; please call your veterinarian and ask first) is given to adopter at time of adoption.
  • The fees for adoption are $50 for cats and $65 for dogs.
  • All adoption fees are non-refundable.

Tell your family and friends interested in adopting a pet about the A.R.C., so that we can not only place our own orphans into new loving homes, but we can continue helping other homeless animals in need!
